The monsoon rains have made a comeback in Khadakwasla, as all four dams in the area are now receiving water. This has led to the release of water from the Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River basin, causing concerns about potential flooding for Pune residents.

The dams in the Khadakwasla Dam Chain Project – Temghar, Varasgaon, Panshet, and Khadakwasla – are currently at full capacity, holding a total of 28.34 TMC, which is 97.18% of their capacity. Rainfall recorded in the area includes 48 mm in Temghar, 24 mm in Varasgaon and Panshet, and 8 mm in Khadakwasla.

Water release rates from the Varasgaon and Panshet Dams were at 862 cusecs and 849 cusecs respectively at 10 AM. By 11 AM, 2,140 cusecs of water were released from Khadakwasla Dam into the Mutha River basin, increasing to 4,150 cusecs by noon. Residents along the riverbank have been advised to stay alert.

The return of the rains and subsequent water release from the dams highlight the importance of proper water management in the region, especially during the monsoon season. Stay tuned for more updates on the situation in Khadakwasla.
