Hey there, Pune peeps! Looks like the rain activity in the catchment areas of the Khadakwasla chain of dams has calmed down a bit lately. We’re now seeing some light to medium rainfall in the catchment areas of the Mulshi, Temghar, and Vadiwale dams.

But hey, don’t let your guard down just yet – a yellow alert has been issued in Pune and Satara districts. The met office is warning that heavy rainfall could hit the Ghat sections, so be prepared!

On the bright side, the total water storage in the four reservoirs supplying water to the city has gone up. After a boost in rainfall in mid-July, the levels have now reached 93.11 percent. Rainfall in the past 24 hours has been recorded at Temghar (9 mm), Varasgaon (7 mm), Panshet (6 mm), and Khadakwasla (1 mm).

To manage the water levels, over 1,000 cusecs of water are being released from the Temghar Dam, with Varasgaon and Panshet also discharging around 600 cusecs each. Additionally, more than 1,000 cusecs of water are being released into the Mutha right canal from Khadakwasla Dam.

Meanwhile, the Pavana Dam in Pimpri-Chinchwad has a solid 7.97 TMC water, filling up to 93.64 percent. Other dams in the district are also at full capacity, with water being released into rivers. And let’s not forget about dams like Pedgaon, Dimbhe, Chaskaman, and more, which are all sitting pretty at 100 percent storage.

Overall, the four dams in the Khadakwasla chain are doing well with 93.11 percent water storage, totaling 27.14 TMC. Khadakwasla is at 82.13 percent, Panshet at 93.37 percent, Varasgaon at 92.59 percent, and Temghar at a full 100 percent.

So, folks, stay safe and stay dry as we navigate through this rainy season in Pune!
