Hey Pune folks, it’s been a tough couple of days for residents in Vadgaon Sheri, Dhanori, Viman Nagar, and Vishrantwadi as they faced water supply disruptions due to a cable fire at the Bham Askhed Dam. The repair work was completed on Thursday morning, but the water supply is still not back to normal.
Officials from the Water Supply Department have promised that things will be back to normal by Friday evening, but nearly 3 lakh residents are still struggling with inadequate or low-pressure water supply. This isn’t the first time residents in Dhanori, Yerawada, and Vishrantwadi have faced water shortages, and complaints to the Water Supply Department haven’t made much of a difference.
The situation took a turn for the worse when the dam’s jackwell cable caught fire, leading to a halt in supply to areas like Vadgaon Sheri, Lohgaon, and Yerawada. Many residents were left without water after Wednesday afternoon, with the department initially promising a quick fix by Thursday afternoon. Unfortunately, the repairs took longer than expected, leaving residents parched for another day.
While cable repairs have been completed, the jackwell remains shut down, causing continued shortages on Nagar Road and surrounding areas. Pune Municipal Corporation officials have now assured that water supply will be fully restored by Friday evening. Hang in there, Pune, and let’s hope for a smoother flow of water soon!
