The Pune International Centre recently hosted the 12th National Conference on Social Innovation, where nine innovators showcased their ideas in categories like Urban, Rural, and Tribal. Winners were announced for each category, with Manthan Sanstha winning in the Tribal category, Rozgar Dhaba in the Rural category, and RATI Foundation for Social Change in the Urban category.

Each winner received a cash prize of Rs 50,000 and mentorship from PIC’s Social Innovation Lab mentors. The conference was attended by prominent figures like Dr. Raghunath Mashelkar and Dr. Vijay Kelkar, with panel discussions and a fireside chat on impact investing in social enterprises.

The event also saw the presentation of the 14th Anjani Mashelkar Prize to innovator Partha Pratim Das Mahapatra for his innovation, EzeCheck, a digital non-invasive hemoglobin screening device. The award was presented by Sanjay Kirloskar, Chairman and MD of Kirloskar Brothers.

Overall, the NCSI 2024 showcased the innovative ideas of 18 finalists and highlighted the importance of social innovation for public good. The event was a collaborative effort with the National Innovation Foundation and Tata Institute of Social Sciences, emphasizing the need for compassionate equity to support innovators.
