Alright folks, buckle up because Pune-Shirur is getting a major facelift with a new project on the horizon. The Pune-Shirur elevated highway project is set to be a game-changer, aiming to ease congestion and improve road conditions along the 54 km stretch. With a hefty price tag of Rs 7,515 crore, this project is not messing around.

Deputy CM and Finance Minister Ajit Pawar is all in on this project, highlighting its importance in enhancing connectivity in the region. Approved by the state cabinet in 2024, this project is expected to be completed within four years and will eventually connect to the Samruddhi Highway and Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar.

The project will be built under the DBFOT model with a 30-year concession period, and minimal land acquisition is required as the elevated corridor will run along the existing Pune-Shirur highway. The project will also include improvements to the current road network, much to the delight of commuters in the area.

Phase 1 of the project will see a six-lane elevated corridor from Kharadi Junction to Shirur Bypass, while Phase 2 will extend from Shirur Bypass to Sambhajinagar. Once completed, this expressway is expected to enhance regional connectivity, ease traffic in key areas like Yerawada, Kharadi, and Wagholi, and contribute to economic development.

So, Pune-Shirur residents, hang in there because the future is looking bright with this mega project on the horizon. Let’s hope the MSIDC sticks to the proposed timeline and gets this show on the road!
