Punit Balan, a prominent young entrepreneur in Pune, has recently made headlines for his commitment to preserving the historical heritage of the city. Through the Indrani Balan Foundation, Balan has signed an agreement with the State Archaeology Department to take care of several key historical monuments.

The monuments in question include the Chhatrapati Rajaram Maharaj Samadhi, the Swarajyarakshak Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj Samadhi, the birthplace of Martyr Shivram Hari Rajguru, and the Mahadev Mandir. These sites attract thousands of visitors annually, especially during public holidays.

In a proactive move, Balan offered to oversee the cleaning and maintenance of these monuments, a proposal that was quickly approved by Dr. Vilas Wahane of the State Archaeology Department. The Indrani Balan Foundation will now appoint seven security guards across the sites as part of their CSR initiative, in addition to handling daily cleaning, maintenance, and regular inspections.

Dr. Wahane commended Balan for his efforts, noting the importance of individuals taking on the responsibility of preserving historical sites. Balan himself emphasized the significance of maintaining these monuments for future generations, stating that it is crucial to uphold the sanctity of these sites.

This partnership between the Indrani Balan Foundation and the State Archaeology Department marks a positive step towards preserving Pune’s rich historical heritage. It is hoped that others will be inspired to follow Balan’s example and contribute to the upkeep of state-protected monuments.
