Hey there, folks! Today we have some unfortunate news coming out of Wagholi. A young resident of Kesnand has been scammed out of a whopping Rs 27.46 lakh by cyber criminals promising easy money through online work.
It all started innocently enough on November 4 when the victim was contacted by the fraudsters offering simple online tasks for a chance to earn some cash from the comfort of his own home. After completing the initial tasks and receiving a refund, the victim was convinced that this was a legitimate opportunity.
But as we all know, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. The scammers soon came back asking for more money to invest in these online tasks, and the victim, unfortunately, fell for it. Over multiple transactions, he transferred a significant amount of money to the fraudsters’ bank account.
When the victim realized he had been duped and tried to reach out to the scammers, their phone was conveniently switched off. This prompted him to report the incident to the Wagholi Police Station, where a case has been filed under the Information Technology Act. Senior Police Inspector Pandit Rejitwad is now on the case, working to bring the scammers to justice.
This incident serves as a reminder to all of us to be cautious when it comes to online offers and investment opportunities. It’s always important to do your due diligence and verify the legitimacy of any scheme before parting with your hard-earned money. Let’s all stay vigilant and protect ourselves from falling victim to these deceptive schemes. Stay safe out there, Wagholi!
