Hey Pune peeps, it’s time to stay vigilant as the Zika virus continues to make its presence felt in our city. The Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has reported two new cases, bringing the total number of cases to 35, with 12 of them being pregnant women.

One of the new cases is a 24-year-old pregnant woman from Bhusari Colony, Kothrud, who is currently 27 weeks pregnant. She started showing symptoms like fever, red rashes, and joint pain on July 20. Luckily, her anomaly scan has shown no abnormalities so far. The second case involves a 35-year-old woman from Bibwewadi.

The PMC has been on top of things, inspecting over 42,000 homes and finding mosquito eggs and larvae in 965 of them. They have also tested 346 pregnant women in affected areas and plan to screen approximately 3,795 more pregnant women registered with hospitals in those regions.

Cases of Zika have been popping up in different parts of the city, with hotspots including Dahanukar Colony, Erandwane, Mundhwa, Pashan, Kharadi, Ambegaon, Yerawada, Kalas, Kondhwa, Lohegaon, Ghole Road, and Dhankawadi.

So, let’s all do our part in preventing the spread of the Zika virus by taking necessary precautions and staying informed. Stay safe, Pune!
